What is skin care?
Skin care refers to the different practices that an individual engages in to make sure that their skin remains healthy and supple. Generally it is the act of ensuring that the skin remains youthful in appearance. Some of these practices include; proper nutrition, staying away from too much sunlight and avoiding harsh products just to name a few.
How does a skin care routine look like?
Would you want to build your own skin care routine? It is very simple. Most of the skin care regimens build on the following simple steps:
Cleanse your skin.
Cleansing is the foundation of any skin care routine. This is where the dirt and the sweat that accumulated in your pores during the day is removed. Be careful not to use a harsh cleanser on your face. A harsh cleanser is one that can deeply exfoliate you to an extent of leaving burns on your face. A gentle cleanser is highly recommended. Be lenient to your skin because as you go down the routine more and more products that have active ingredients will be used and we don’t want you burning your face in the name of skin routine. However it is highly recommended to make sure you do a test patch every time you buy a skin product to ascertain if it would react with your face.
A toner comes on immediately after cleansing your skin. It helps in balancing the ph of your skin. It is recommended that if you have a skin that is prone to acne you find a toner that calms break outs and if you have a dry skin find one that is hydrating.
Now this is the stage where you begin pampering the skin. The previous two steps were like the foundation of the care. You see, like the way you lay the fondant on the cake, that’s what the above two steps are like. Now it’s time to begin decorating the cake so that it looks good. Forgive that am using cake in this instance, maybe it’s because I haven’t had some in a long time. So then serums are usually extracts that are highly concentrated. There are different types of serums, each serum has its own purpose on the skin and they are usually applied at different times of the day; some morning while others in the evening. Just a drop of a serum is enough to work magic on your skin. You don’t need much. We’ll talk more about serums in our subsequent articles.
Most of us are unaware that the skin around the eye is quite sensitive. It is so sensitive that it requires its own cream. Please if you can afford the eye cream, treat your eye area very specially. Eye creams help in evading the daily eye bugs.
After all these steps of treating your skin you then need to moisturize the it. This is generally what majority of us who do not have skin care routines do. Moisturizing is important because it helps hydrate the skin and creates a barrier to the skin.
This is the most important step of a skin care regimen. The whole purpose of a regimen is to ensure that our skin remains youthful. The UV light from the sun are the main cause of premature aging of skin. Therefore we need to protect ourselves from these rays. Sunscreen should be applied whether you stay indoors or not.
So yeah this is the simplest way to develop your own skin care routine. I hope this is helpful… See you on the next article!
